Formed in 1978 by Mick Upton and Jerry Slater, Showsec was the first dedicated live event security company in the UK. Through to the present day our focus is to introduce innovative crowd management and security services, delivered to clients in a professional manner. In 2000 we became part of the International Crowd Management and Security Group, ICMS. Working alongside our European partners, The Security Company, we are now recognised internationally as global leaders in the planning and management of the entire spectrum of events worldwide.

Showsec has strong presence throughout the UK, Europe and abroad from a network of nine offices to service events and venues, headed by Managing Director Mark Harding and Operations Directors Simon Battersby and Mark Logan. With 80 full time staff and over 2,500 casual workers, the company’s efficiency stems from a well organised infrastructure of specialist departments.

We are committed to improving standards across the whole industry and were a founding member of the UK Crowd Management Association, of which Managing Director Mark Harding is currently chairman.

Any festival that attracts crowds in excess of 60,000 people requires a great deal of planning when it comes to security and crowd management. 

Showsec work with us all year round to ensure that they fully understand all aspects of the festival and are an integral part of our management team enabling us to deliver a safe and secure environment for our customers.

EARLS COURT
Showsec has provided front of house security and stewarding at all Earls Court concerts since January 2002. In that time we have found them to be highly professional, flexible, accommodating and, above all, fun to work with. 

Our concert business is highly seasonal and that makes their job here even more difficult, however, they have never let us down and they continue to be one of our key Service Partners.

FINA SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS AT MEN ARENA
Showsec were on board with us for the full run of 34 days at the FINA Swimming Championships - longer than any other show at the arena in the past. 

They stepped up their presence as the build progressed. During the event itself, they had 90 people per session. Their team members built up good relationships with the press, athletes and organisers during the event. 

Both the MEN Arena and the organising committee were very happy with all aspects of the operation.

I just wanted to drop you a quick line and say a big thank you to Showsec and all the staff who attended the above event.

The professionalism, sense of humour (and they needed one!) and general behaviour throughout the three days was impeccable. Brendan was a great guy to work with and a fantastic representative for your company.

The duties were slightly confused at times, with other companies involved creating more work than anticipated for the Showsec staff. This didn't phase them and they accepted the situation with a smile and got on with the job in hand.

The bottom line is.........they made my life easier and made the event a safer place with their dedication.

CARDIFF INTERNATIONAL ARENA

The team from Showsec is employed at every one of our public events and concerts, from lively standing concerts to classical recitals, as has been the case since the opening of the building in 1993. As such, we are confident that they provide a professional service in management of audience behaviour and the safe control of events held at the Arena.

We have a close working relationship with the area manager, Yvonne Peterson, who is based at the venue. We have worked with Yvonne for over ten years, and see the professionalism of her supervisors and staff as integral to the success of events at Cardiff International Arena. The safety and care of our patrons will always be a priority, and being able to work with a service supplier such as Showsec that shares this view is a clear advantage to any venue.

SHOWSEC'S ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN
Showsec Launches Environmental Policy

In May 2008, after months of development, Showsec launched their Environmental Management Plan (EMP) with a view towards harnessing a culture of environmental awareness at all levels of the business. 

Below is an excerpt from the plan;

"The goal for the company should be to manage its operations in a manner whereby negative environmental impact by its systems or employees should be considered and negated where possible. The long term plan is to achieve accreditation by the BSI to standard 14001."

SIA APPROVED CONTRACTOR

We are proud to confirm that we are approved SIA contractors. Showsec holds SIA approved contractor status for the provision of Door Supervision and Security Guarding services.

The Security Industry Authority is the organisation responsible for regulating the private security industry. 

SIA is an independent body reporting to the Home Secretary, under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. Their mission is to regulate the private security industry effectively; to reduce criminality, raise standards and recognise quality service in Great Britain.

SIA's Approved Contractor Scheme introduced a set of operational and performance standards for suppliers of private security services. Those organisations that meet these standards are awarded Approved Contractor status. This accreditation provides purchasers of private security services with independent proof of a contractor's commitment to quality.

Showsec are one of the founder members of the UKCMA.

The principle aim of the UKCMA is to improve standards of crowd safety at entertainment and sport events and to improve the image of organisations involved with crowd safety in the UK.

This aim is achieved by promoting crowd safety issues among legislative bodies and co-operating with academic institutions and training organisations in order to establish crowd safety training programs.
